Be Like Brit!
For two weeks during the season of Lent, students in Grade 3 are being challenged to do chores in order to raise money for charity. We would like to be able to make another donation to the Britney Gengel “Be Like Brit” Fund. As I’m sure you all remember Britney was the young college student from Rutland who lost her life during the earthquake in Haiti while doing volunteer work at a local orphanage. Last year, Britney’s grandmother and aunt visited our school to meet all the children who worked so hard to keep Brit’s dream alive, building an orphanage in Haiti. It was a very rewarding experience for everyone in attendance and I was so proud of all the students who participated in this worthwhile cause! Hopefully all of our students will participate again this year. We can’t do it without your support. If each child was able to raise $3, we would be able to reach our class goal of $100. The orphanage has already been started, so let’s work together to make a donation from O.L.A. that we can be proud of. Monies will be collected now through April 15th. Thank you in advance for your generosity and help.

State Reports Have Begun! |
Each of the students has selected their state for their end of the year report. During April, we will be studying the great State of Massachusetts in social studies class. We will be doing a research report covering many of the topics we’ve studied throughout the year, including the state’s landforms, waterways, climate, historical facts, natural resources, etc… things that make our state unique! For two weeks during the month of April, students will have an opportunity in school to begin researching their individual states for their end of the year report. The class is very excited about working on this assignment. Directions will be sent home around April 15th and projects will be due in late May. It should be a lot of fun!
